United Fiber has been selected by Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, to provide 100G optical wavelength services outside the Mid-Atlantic I-95 corridor. Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier is the wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom, one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies with award-winning network quality. The fiber route spans from northern New Jersey to the data center capital of the world, Ashburn, Virginia.

DE-CIX expands again in North America, adding Phoenix, Arizona (AZ), as its fifth IX in the U.S.. After a year of double-digit growth and expansion in 2020, with the addition of DE-CIX multi-service interconnection platforms in Chicago and Richmond, Phoenix is set to become DE-CIX’s western-most location, fortifying connectivity across the United States while enhancing gateway access between North America, South America, and Europe.

Telia Carrier announced that it has expanded its partnership with Flexential, adding a new Point of Presence (PoP) in the Flexential Hillsboro 2 data center in Oregon, bringing improved diversity and high-speed connectivity to content and cloud providers in the Silicon Forest region. Telia Carrier’s expansion in Hillsboro gives customers more options to directly connect in the market avoiding backhaul and latency. Hillsboro continues to grow as a key connection point for subsea cable landings and international traffic from Asia.

Sparkle and Trans Ocean Network, a Panama-based telecommunications company, have agreed to form a strategic joint venture for the construction of an open landing and connectivity center in Panama that would become the digital hub for all Central America, the Andean region, and the Caribbean.

NTT announced that its Global Data Centers Americas division is building a new data center campus in Phoenix, Arizona slated to open in early 2022. This will be the fourth US market NTT has launched since February 2021, growing its footprint from three to seven campuses.

The 2Africa consortium, comprised of China Mobile International, Facebook, MTN GlobalConnect, Orange, stc, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone and WIOCC, announced the addition of four new branches to the 2Africa cable. The branches will extend 2Africa’s connectivity to the Seychelles, the Comoros Islands, and Angola, and bring a new landing to south-east Nigeria. The new branches join the recently announced extension to the Canary Islands.
